Web Design Brief

Pacific Door Design LLC distributes doors in the Southwestern region of the United States. We need a website design for our company launch.

We are looking for a website design that screams modern, and is easy to navigate. We want our customers to browse through our collections of doors with ease, while at the same time enjoy the feel of the website (more on how the website should feel below). Our logo is attached to help with the design process.

We expect this relationship to continue beyond the initial assignment, whether it includes additions or updates to the site. In that sense, we will only work with that designer who will specifically incorporate our ideas into the design, not a designer that submits a "one-size-fits-all" design. With that in mind, we are looking for a creative person who is willing to take some risks.

We are committed to minimizing the amount of revisions needed, so we encourage you to message us with any questions you may have throughout the process, especially in the earlier phases.

Home builders, commercial builders, developers, and upper-middle class/upper class customers. As you can see, our target market is of a more sophisticated type, so the design should be on the more serious side, and less playful. It should showcase a sense of class.

Requirements

Must have

• The home page should have a slideshow showcasing 4 to 5 different topics. See www.sourceoutdoor.net for an example. The headings for each picture should be easily customizable (font, color, etc.). The user should also be able to click on the picture and be taken to the page that the pictures are linked to.
  
  At the very top right of every page, there should be 2 header links: Download Brochure | Contact
  
  There should be 5 static categories placed in one row at the top of each page. See www.jeld-wen.com for an example. Each of these categories should drop down when you rest your mouse over it and display a list of links. Again, this should be easily customizable and shown on every page of the site. This will serve as the navigation menu. Let us know if you need to know the exact amount of links for each category - hopefully we can customize it on our end fairly easily.

  Home Page: Along with the above, the home page should include a welcome section that introduces the user to the site. There should also be sections for "Featured Product" and "Testimonial".
  
  Featured product: this will include an image and short text.
  
  Testimonial: this will include a quote, which should be easy for us to update weekly, and a link to "More Testimonials".

Should not have

• No clutter - instead, the design layout should be open and easy to navigate.
  
  No cartoonish graphics - instead, the graphics should be sophisticated and modern.
  
  No flash, no java.
