I'm a blogger that writes about the technology that powers online advertising. I dive into how various platforms work, how it enables different business capabilities, and how marketers and publishers can apply technology to their businesses. Even though my writing is all about technology, I write it for a non-technical, operations side of the business. The voice I try to achieve is expert, but casual and conversational. The site is a business, and I use it to boost my standing in the industry and attract consulting work as well as advertising clients.
I've been writing for about 4 years and my site is well known in the industry, but I designed it myself at that time just so I could start writing and it could use an overhaul to look more professional, and reflect the size of my audience. I'm going to overhaul my site with a flat, minimalist look in the next month, and need this logo to fit in with that approach. It should look good and be clearly legible as small as 250px wide by 50px high, or thereabouts. Please do not abbreviate the text.
I'm planning to update the site with a flat design, but keep my general colors, which are #990000, #404040, and #FFFFFF.
Updates
One item I neglected to mention is that the logo should ideally be suitable for placement on a #990000 (scarlet) background. Today, the text is #FFFFFF on #990000, and I'd like to stay with that color scheme. #404040 (dark grey) could be used for accent, or for the text with #FFFFFF as an accent. Either way, assume the background will be #990000.
