Book Cover Design Brief
I need a book cover for a book that is a comedy fantasy romp that parodies classic fairytales and hero's quests. It's tongue in cheek and it takes a lot of inspiration from RPG videogames from the 80's and D&D campaigns, though it can be enjoyed without having more than a vague notion of the genre.
It has romance and adventure, and it's LGBT (lesbian romances).
It could be easily targeted towards young-adults, but considering the influences, people who grew up in the 80's and 90's should enjoy it.
I would love something fun and full of color. I wouldn't mind a cartoonish approach, but it's not neccesary. Feel free to explore!
The setting is medieval European fantasy.
The main characters are as follows, although not all of them need to be feautured, or even at all:
Hettie Black: the protagonist, a young girl of 18, inexperienced, comes from a small town and dresses as such, has a sword.
Elyn: Hettie's best friend, half-dwarf female, so the idea is a small, fierce-looking girl that holds a big battle ax.
Roberta: a witch, billowing robes, that kind of thing.
Princess Cinnamon: classic fairytale princess, wears pinks, looks sweet.
Lady Mortífera: evil sorceress. Think something in line of Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, but no dragon horns or anything that makes her look too similar.
Details follow:
Title: Hettie Black and the Call of Destiny
Author: Lola Andrews
The blurb, which should go in the back:
"Princess Cinnamon has been kidnapped. Again. For like, the twenty-fifth time.
With the princess in such peril, Destiny calls forth a new hero, just-turned-eighteen Hettie Black. Hettie, who has nothing going for her other than a midly cool name, and who has never before held a sword, isn't too keen on the whole ordeal.
But, with Destiny as her patron and her very best friend Govinelyn Berylbane for company, she sets forth from the little town of Lostwall to rescue the princess.
Now, the only question remaining is whether the princess wants to be rescued at all from the claws of the rather sexy Lady Mortífera.
Join Hettie on her quest in this light romp that pokes fun at classic fairytales and RPG videogames, with a little touch of lesbian romance, colorful characters and tongue-in-cheek fun."
