Logo Design Brief

I need a new logo for my law business. Our current website is www.nguyenlawfirm.net. I want to update the logo to make it more modern and I want to get rid of the chess design. We are a litigation law firm so I want something that is classy and elegant. Understated is fine as well but it can be bold also. This design will go on our website, marketing materials, sponsorships, business cards, and letter head. I can answer any questions. It can be text or picture/text or abbreviations or pictures/abbreviations. Check out the website and let me know but I want it updated to look more professional. I uploaded the old logo -- i need something more elegant.
