Apparel Design Brief
Designs for merchandise to sell with our online event: “America’s Summer Roadtrip — Travel across the country and through our nation’s history."
Our new non-profit organization, The Pursuit of History, had to cancel our in-person “History Camp” events this year. These events bring together people, from all walks of life, who have a passion for history, together for a day of learning and sharing.
With in-person events no longer an option and many folks staying home this summer, we created “America’s Summer Roadtrip” as a way to fulfill our mission and to help historic sites during a difficult year.
This will also be our major fundraising event for the year, and while the event will stream online on August 1, free to all, we’re hoping we can attract donations and generate revenue from merchandise sales. And this is where you come in.
We’re looking for designs that people will love—designs that they can’t resist and just have to have—on t-shirts, or on water bottles or keychains, stickers or magnets, caps or bags, or anywhere else they would look great.
Designs should reflect themes such as . . .
- Summer fun
- Roadtrips
- Our nation’s history
Styles and subjects can be wide-ranging.
This is all about summer fun, so be tasteful and avoid anything political.
Optionally, your design can include text, such as “America’s Summer Roadtrip” or “America’s Summer Roadtrip 2020” or "Travel across the country and through our nation’s history."
We’ll select one or more designs, create digital mock ups of the design on t-shirts, stickers, magnets, and other things, and take orders.
With your great designs, we hope to be able to generate enough merchandise sales to be about to fund the operations of our non-profit.
And although the event is August 1, we want to get going now, so the sooner we get your designs the better.

Please show your design on a mock-up of a white t-shirt, and a colored shirt. You pick the color. Note that if ink colors would have to be changed in order to get the design to show up on both light and dark, that’s okay. Please show the different ink colors for the two different shirts.
