Twice A Victim is a heartbreaking homicide case that brings together unlikely allies (a public defender and a victim advocate who works for the prosecution) to try to save a distraught immigrant mother from a fate she does not deserve. It also introduces The Sisterhood--a secret group of vigilantes who get justice for women who can't get it in a court of law.

A man on a quest for justice. A woman prepared to seek revenge. In Twice A Victim, our legal suspense novel, a heartbreaking homicide case brings together unlikely allies to save a distraught immigrant mother from a fate she does not deserve.

Criminal defense lawyer Frank Bravo has always hated dead baby cases, and making it tougher is his latest client, Kala Tausinga, the infant’s mother. She has barely survived an abusive marriage and Frank is certain she would never harm her own child. Yet Kala is so frightened of her husband Afa’s wrath, she’ll risk life in prison rather than testify against him. Frank will need to call on all his twenty years’ experience to clear Kala and make sure the right person pays for the crime. But Afa isn’t going down without a fight.

As a victim advocate, it’s Mia Montes’ job to help the prosecutor convict the defendant, Kala Tausinga. But Mia comes to believe Kala is innocent and risks her own career to help Kala gain the courage to testify. Having survived her own abusive past, Mia knows justice doesn’t always prevail. As the trial continues and Afa remains at large, Mia begins to fear for Kala’s life. Even if she’s found innocent, Kala may never be free of the man who now wants her dead. So, after struggling with the ethical dilemma of seeking justice outside the law that she has always held dear, Mia seeks out the Sisterhood, a secret band of vigilantes dishing out justice for women who can’t find it in a court of law.

With the jury in deliberation, the clock is ticking. Will Kala walk free, and if so, will she need the mysterious Sisterhood to keep her from becoming a victim once again?
