I imagine you'll have sent a similar invitation to several other designers although I'm not sure if I'm right for the project in the first place, but could you give an indication of the type of style/theme you are looking for and/or if you lean towards something similar (but different) to the current "Magic the Gathering" logo?

I note you don't want any quickie design that is half-inched from here, there and everywhere and hopefully most designers would want to deliver something unique anyway, although I accept you've had some unfortunate experiences, but there are dozens of ways the design could be approached so rather than waste your time (or mine) it would be good to have a generalization of the sort of thing you have in mind.

Even some samples of designs that appeal to you might help.

Thanks Phillip. DesignCrowd asked to send to top designers, I really liked your designs so we sent one your way. Similar (but distinct) to the current MTG logo would be cool.

Two designs that were submitted to us on our last project were ripped off of a "graphic design aid" website that gives graphic designers base designs off which to augment for their own commercial use. Unfortunately the designs did not change at all, and looked exactly like several others that we could easily find with an image search. DesignCrowd also sent us a message after we had approved payment for one, stating that they had actually found it elsewhere on the web, somewhere we couldn't find when we did our initial search. It was the first time it's ever happened using Design Crowd, so I felt compelled to include a note about it in my design.

Stylistically we're looking for something simple, fantasy-adjacent, and eye-catching. If the series takes off, we'll need it to be identifiable from a simpler design, so something with an image that people could associate (like the really cool fish you designed) would be preferred.

We can't use any part of the Magic The Gathering Logo or its symbols, but we can use colors, themes, and general fantasy creatures like trolls, dragons, elemental creatures, demons, vampires, elves, wizards, etc. not that I'm looking for a painting of a wizard I'm just giving you examples. The Academy of Magical Arts (i realize it's a different kind of magic) in LA (Magic Castle) has a really cool logo with an owl and lettering that appeals to me very much for this. Not saying it should be an owl, but incorporating "fantasy" thematically for the look/feel is what we're hoping to do. hopefully this helps. If not, no worries!

did you remove your design?

Yes, I did remove it because when I didn't receive a reaction or comment from you I felt that I was not in the running (I also suspected I had gone in the wrong direction with my design) and in these situations I usually withdraw my submissions in order to protect my rank/rating in case the client decides to use the star rating system as a means to sorting their favourite submissions.

I didn't mean any disrespect to your good self (it was pure self-preservation).

I totally get it. I was going to select your project (I have a team of 6 working on this project and they all needed to weigh in) as our "fun version" for t-shirts. The group's consensus was to go with something more corporate, which was not the way I expected them to go, but alas, here we are. If you put it back up, I'd like to offer you something for it. I'm not sure if that's possible now that we've selected a winner, up to you.

Small problem......

It seems that since the project has already been awarded I am not able to re-post it so I have placed it in my portfolio (hope you are able to see it).

When I made the design a few days ago I wasn't sure which color scheme to use (and I'm all the more convinced that the red/orange gradient example I found on the internet was the wrong one) so I opted to present you with a choice of three schemes but I'd be happy to revise to suit your precise requirements.

I thought they were all great, and was one of the reasons why we liked it, because of the variety. We selected the winning design - I honestly like the red/orange design the best, and I am the only one on my team with a design degree, however, I was out-voted by the democracy we have here on staff. I wanted to keep it on file, despite their objections, so that we could use it down the road. if you'd like, you can e-mail drew@hashtagarena.com and maybe we can work something out offline.

That's really nice of you to say (very much appreciated) but on the subject of communication, this platform is very clear that they frown upon direct contact between the designer and client (can't blame them) even though I am not your designer and it is a matter for termination of service.

You might consider engaging my services on a one-to-one basis which is a preferred means of hiring any designer on this platform (I've had a few of them recently) and you can even cite or reference any design in my portfolio as a means of starting the process or just copy/paste the existing design brief to establish a new one-to-one project.

Sorry if this sounds convoluted but the protection of both the client and the designer is one of the better things about this platform (they're nice people too).
