Logo Design Brief

To design a logo for St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (SVHM) Orthopaedics.

In the design of the logo, please consider that SVHM Orthopaedics is a unit that performs a variety of tasks, keywords being: fractures, operations, surgery, joint replacements, tumour removal, patient care, return to mobility.

The logo draws design inspiration from the current St Vincent’s Hospital logo (uploaded). However, the logo for SVHM Orthopaedics does not need to resemble the original logo in any particular way, other than retaining the exact blue and purple as colouring. There can be more colours than this, but those two must be included.

We would like there to be an icon in the logo. This icon should in some way represent orthopaedic surgery (either concretely or abstractly). However, as SVHM Orthopaedics performs a variety of jobs, try not to be too narrow in your design (e.g. a prosthetic joint, a knee, a broken bone) it may be helpful to be somewhat abstract. We have uploaded a photo of an icon and logo design that we like as an idea.

Please include "SVHM Orthopaedics" as text with the icon. The font for this text could be similar to the font of the reference logo. This text does not need to be embedded inside the logo icon itself, and the logo may be used without this text by the department.

This design should be mature, professional, sleek, modern, and eye-catching. Please enjoy being creative, and we look forward to your submissions.

Updates: We have included an example logo that we like.
Updates 2: We have provided an interesting example of blue and purple colour blending in a photo. Not that we necessarily need or want colour blending, but the aesthetic is interesting and engaging.

Requirements

Must have

• The exact blue and purple from reference images as colouring. There can be more colours than this, but those two must be included.
  
  An icon that represents (either concretely or abstractly) orthopaedic surgery.

Should not have

• Religious symbology.
  Only a heart as an icon - this is not a cardiology unit, but an orthopaedic unit.
  An ECG trace.
  We have enough designs of people running, thank you.
