Web Design Brief
Introduction:
We need a redesign of the internal pages of our website, ASLdeafined.com. The current website design has been in place for many years and is not mobile friendly. We want an updated design that makes the site look cleaner, more professional, and mobile accessible. We are looking for a design that eliminates the clutter on each page, and makes the site simple and easy to use. We will be interested in your design if it is unique and creative. Don't be afraid to completely change the look of the site.
We need the designs sliced up into clean HTML files that are responsive and work well on both mobile and desktop computers. We will implement the PHP needed to make the pages functional.
About Us:
ASLdeafined is a subscription-based website for American Sign Language (ASL) video lessons. The content is for anyone who wishes to learn ASL, regardless of age. It has been designed to instruct Deaf students, parents of Deaf children, and the community-at-large. All lessons are taught by Deaf experts of ASL.
Overview:
The website before log-in does not need any changes. There are five key pages within the internal website (after log-in) that need to be redesigned; they are listed below. Note that some pages (Dictionary and Activity) have multiple sub-pages, so there are about 6-8 pages in total to design, depending on how you decide to approach this (more info in the pages’ respective instruction documents).
The new page designs should retain their existing features, and as stated before, should be mobile friendly. However, you may combine, collapse, or completely change the look of these features. Each page to redesign has a separate instruction document attachment, and screenshots of the current version of the page. Our logo has also been attached. If you want to see the website pages for yourself, you can also go to our website (ASLdeafined.com) and use a free trial to get access to the internal site.
As for design preferences, we want our site to be modern-looking and mature. We’re looking for an inviting, educational style that can attract both high school students and adults. We’re happy with the current font and color scheme, but we’re always open to ideas!
Additional Notes:
- Every page has the same header and footer. You could keep these the same, or change them, based on your discretion.
- Currently, every page also has a breadcrumb. The breadcrumb is unnecessary and you may remove it. However, the “add/remove from favorites” button on the right of the breadcrumb is necessary to keep somewhere on the page.
Pages:
Here’s a list of the five key pages we need redesigned:
- Dashboard
- Dictionary
- Lesson
- Activity
- All Lessons
Each page has its own instruction document. These are attached separately.
