Logo Design Brief

We seek a logo for a podcast that discusses and compares democracies, constitutions, and democratic institutions in particular. Democracy is a constant struggle for political and economic privilege and power; a struggle to write and amend the rules of the game. The rules of the game in this political economic context are the fundamental rules that are written down in constitutions and laws. The question is who in a society has the authority and legitimacy of rewriting the constitution, or introducing legislation.

Among the numerous podcasts on democracy, the logo should stand out and give a positive, smart, coherent, activist and courageous impression of the fundamental discussions presented. While the logo name is "Rules of the Game", we do not want any reference to any sort of real game in the logo (like sports or board games). Since the podcast discusses institutions which are rather abstract, the logo is likely to be an abstract one, but we welcome any creative suggestions (the preliminary logo used the a Greek temple as symbology to represent democratic institutions). The podcast discusses political and hence often serious matters, so the logo should not be too playful, but rather reflect the struggle for freedom, justice and representation that people around the world face. It is thus not particular to any one country. The podcast discusses democratic institutions, that is electoral laws, presidential vs. parliamentary systems, direct democracy (ballots), federalism vs. centralism, and local democracy. In a broader sense, the podcast discusses political power, representative democracy, and democratic revolutions. The podcast includes interviews with guests that are academic researchers, grass-roots political activists, and politicians.

The subtitle "discussing democratic institutions" is likely to be separate from the main title (hence without hyphen/dash). The colors may be bright, emotional, vigorous, powerful, or may also be dramatic, hence the logo overall should not be too dark we suppose (we are open to suggestions though). The podcast logo should stand out and strengthen the brand of the podcast. We do not want the logo to include any podcast microphone, as many podcast logos do. The logo shall also be usable for the website.
