Logo Design Brief

I need a logo for websites, business cards, apparel etc. We are primarily a roofing company but we do general contract work for many other trades as well. I would like to show a roof line somehow and hopefully have a line finishing out from the roof line above the name as a trail from a fighter plane jet (like a blue angel jet). I am open to different concepts though.
