Logo Design Brief

I need a logo for a new startup apparel brand. I am going to sell t shirts, hoodies and hats. I will be marketing towards people in the construction trades. I work construction in Tennessee and have my whole life. The clothes will be themed with funny sayings or designs pertaining to specific trades (excavating, carpentry, electrician, drywall, masonry, plumbers) or just construction in general.
My idea for a logo is the words "REAL DEAL" on like a banner (rectangle). Maybe a leather look or something construction looking. Open to different colors, red, grey, black, brown. And then the words "Apparel Company" beneath it.

I also want a cartoonish image of a man wearing a white hardhat and maybe overalls. Either leaning against the side of the logo, or above the "REAL DEAL" showing shoulders up.

I attached a crude drawing as a reference idea.
