Character Design Brief

I am looking for a character design for my modern, young, urban tulip flower brand based in Amsterdam. We are a family business growing tulips since 1936. We deliver tulipbubs and flowers straight from our farm to the consumer. We provide tulip flowers, bulbs and our USP are tulips with the bulbs still attached. We focus on E-commerce on our own website and marketplaces like Amazon. The character will be used on our website, e-mails, info graphics and animations to advertise our products.

Our target audience are male/female between 18 and 48 years old, living in the city, but a huge love for nature. They live in big European cities like Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels or Paris. Have a good taste for urban art, grown their own plants and flowers, like to recycle and want to create a colourful world for the people around them.

Our brand style is black & white, with highlighted elements in colour. We use a dark background. and lot's of our graphics are based on chalk drawings with a smooth outline. I like the character design to follow this style, unless you have such a high believe that your own style will compliment our brand-style,then I am willing to be surprised.

I am specifically looking or a Gorilla / monkey, let's name him Tobias.
Tobias is crazy 'bout tulips, and wants to share his love for this flower with everybody around him. He is cool, urban, funky and strong. He knows how fragile a tulip can be, so is always extra careful when he handles the flowers with his big hands and muscles. Although the flowers can be cute and loving, Tobias is still very manly and rough. They make a great contrast together.

I would love to see him in different poses.
Extra point for the concept with just his face, as well as fullbody.
Extra extra points if you are able to animate him to see what is possible for future projects (explainer video's and advertisements)

Nice to have

• Animated sample // full set of different poses, simple cartoony style so the character style is easy to upscale in the future

Should not have

• Too cute, feminine
