Logo Design Brief

I need a logo that is simple yet trustworthy and confident. I do work for the US Department of Defense, so extremely graphic and "cutsie" logos will not work. US DoD uses a lot of acronyms, so that may be my preferred final product. The file I attached is just an initial BASIC concept I had. Something in that neighborhood is what I am leaning toward, however, I am open to other recommendations.
