Hello,

Thank you very much for the invite. I'd like to start working on the drawing asap, but first I have a few questions:

- by lifeboat, do you mean this kind: http://randyongie.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/lifeboat-drill.jpg or anything different?

- the people on both ends of the boat - what do they look like, what are they doing, sitting, standing, panicking... what are they wearing, anything indicative of a particular social status?

- maybe it's obvious but as boat is taking on water should one part of the boat, maybe one side of the stern, already submerged?

It would be really helpful if you could answer these, I'm looking forward to get going with this!
Hope to hear from you soon!

Yay! Someone who knows what a lifeboat looks like!

And yes, absolutely water is coming in the stern of the boat - indeed the large folks are sitting in it in the stern, looking determined and unmoving and deliberately oblivious because they don't want to give up their seats.

The folks in the bow are probably standing and looking wide eyed with concern and fear.

There's no socioeconomic difference, just average americans who are wearing what they could be wearing when shopping at Walmart - no economic identifiers.

Going for simple, clean, more sketch than finished, black and white. Does that help?

Thank you so much and feel free to ask if there is something else you want to know.

Best,
Heather

an additional couple of thoughts:
- the lifeboat doesn't need to be as big as the one in the picture - indeed it might tip/sink more credibly if it were smaller
- the aesthetic is more sketch/illustration and possibly line drawing - it's not cartoon/comic, and we don't want it to seem like we are in any way making fun of the large people who are sullenly obdurate as they hold on to the seats they believe to be rightfully theirs
- if we can get this to work, then I'm thinking we do a companion "after" drawing - where the boat is floating, level, dry, and secure, everyone is balanced in it, and maybe one of each of the previous group is bailing out the last of the water...

Hope that's helpful -
Heather

stylistically, your waterfall, and your "pioneer valley crossfit eagle (the plain pencil/pen? sketch) are closets to the aesthetic I'm hoping for

the goal is to use it as a graphic on a website, so as displayed probably roughly a 2" diameter?

Thank you, I'm much clearer on what is needed.
Will submit the drawing (at least the first version of it) tomorrow. Hope that's not too late!
