Logo Design Brief

We need a logo for our 15+ year old firm called "Landseer". We have never marketed our business previously and plan to start doing so. Landseer is an investment office that helps non-profit institutions such as schools and foundations manage their endowments. We invest in businesses and markets all around the world. The firm name came about as a reference to Sir Edwin Landseer, an English painter and sculptor well known for his painting of animals, particularly dogs. A type of A breed of Newfoundland dog that is black and white was named after Landseer as he often painted it. Our founder is an animal lover and in fact had such a Newfoundland dog. On our website (landseerinv.com) is an image of the Lions at Trafalgar Square in London, perhaps Edwin Landseer's most famous sculpture. We selected that image because it strikes us as clean and elegant. We could not figure out how to make a dog or any of Landseer's other work look both as as professional (we are in the business of managing money and want to convey our trustworthiness as a steward of capital) and international. We assume our logo would be black and white, a nod to the Landseer.
