We are looking to get a poster design for the newly released theatrical production of 'ALICE BY HEART', a show set during the Blitz of London in WWII, that tells the story of a girl who is quarantined in the London Underground. Her friend has tuberculosis and she wants to read Alice in Wonderland to him to transport him to a different world. The book is taken from her but she recites it by heart and the Tube transforms into the world of Alice in Wonderland, with the characters becoming characters from the book.
We are looking for a poster design that can set Alice in Wonderland in a dark and intriguing setting. It should juxtapose the bright colors of Wonderland, and the dark background of the WWII London Bombings, specifically the shelters that were built in the London Tube.
I have a Pinterest Board that I collected for research for scenic design from that period that you might reference. https://pin.it/1Vnn1vg
We love the surrealistic look of Alice by Wonderland, and would love to feature the character of Alice in some way central to the design. The themes of the clock, especially clocks from the London era would be a cool design, or the idea of featuring Alice falling down the hole into a wonderland from darkness or rubble.
The poster should be darker and more about the love story of Alice and her dying friend, than the story of Wonderland. There are a few posters out there now of this musical, but it is newly released, so only a few designers have created posters of this really cool show.
