Logo Design Brief

We need a logo design for a new company called Compassionate Alien Press. We publish books and short stories in science-fiction, fantasy, and related genres and styles. Through those publications, we seek to share stories that deconstruct the dualistic paradigms of otherness, eliminating the negative connotations around the idea of an alien. Compassion can be fierce, cutting through obscurations and obstacles to help establish balance. Thus, a sword is sometimes used as a metaphor. Furthermore, a sword could be a metaphor for the pen, which is mightier. Our logo might feature a sword shape, perhaps with light around it. The logo might incorporate an outer-space alien face as well or instead of a sword.

UPDATE: There will need to be a black-and-white version with the image and company name stacked. This will be printed on the spine of books. A colored version with a different layout will be needed for the website.
