Tattoo Design Brief
I have an existing shoulder tattoo of St. Michael that I want to extend to my elbow as a quarter sleeve and also onto the pec about 3-4 inches deep (yellow lines in IMG_5868.jpeg) and back shoulder. I want the design to be able to incorporate the POTENTIAL of an extension to full or 3/4 sleeve later (red and blue in IMG_5869.jpeg). Ideally, the artists can present concepts for 1/2, 3/4, and full sleeve.
I have specific classic art from Gustave Dore that I’d like to use. There are three pieces that he did that could be put on the design from upper arm to lower arm but only if there is a way to make the scale fit…otherwise just incorporate pieces of the art. Example of all three: UPPER ARM under current tattoo or using underarm/pec/shoulder (yellow lines area of IMG_5868):“Fall of the Rebel Angels” (reference art is IMG_5865.jpeg); under this/MID ARM (red lines in IMG_5869) “The Battle of the Angels” (reference art is IMG_5866.jpeg) and under that/LOWER ARM (blue lines in IMG_5869) “Mouth of Hell” (reference art is IMG_5867.jpeg). These can be merged together to make the scale work and look appropriate with the existing tattoo.
The scale and fit is important so it blends in well with my existing tattoo. I don’t want it to look like 2 different tattoos but want it to be one seamless piece of art. If using two or three of the Gustave Dore pictures won’t work, then I’d prefer to only integrate “Fall or the Rebel Angels” (IMG_5865) or “Mouth of Hell” (IMG_5867).
Lastly, in your design you can use the underarm area for some of the art and part of the pec and back shoulder. It’s important for the scale to match the existing tattoo, so it’s okay if you can only incorporate elements or one piece of Gustavo Dore’s art and you could consider using those areas for bits from the various pieces (like angels battling in the background). I don’t need all three of those pieces necessarily because the scale may not work on the existing space on my arm just make sure it looks like one piece and not a bunch of art jammed together.
