Logo Design Brief

Logo is for a restaurant in Tijuana Mexico that serves a fusion Mexican Japanese dish called Taco Rice that is from Okinawa. Looking for a design that speaks to the Japanese side as we are in Mexico so we do not need much mexican influence in the logo design.
I threw together a quick logo that I attached, but I feel it is a bit old school, want something a bit more edgy and also have a retro techno Japanese feel to it.
I'm not too worried about the colors as they are easily changed.
