Logo Design Brief

"Guincho Rocks !" is the name of our rock band. An amateur rock band formed 2 months ago in Portugal to play covers of Rock’n Roll classic from the 70’s till today, with the objective of playing concerts 6 times per year or so. The name “Guincho Rocks !” comes from “Guincho” and “Rocks !”
- “Guincho” is the name of beach west of Lisbon which is a mythical place for surfers and windsurfers, because of the often big wind and waves, but also for other locals and tourists as it is a beautiful beach. We chose Guincho because we rehearse once a week in a studio located near that beach.
- “Rocks !” (with an explanation mark): for 3 reasons
1) It’s a rock band
2) In the middle of this Guincho beach, there is a rock.
3) "Rocks !" with a space and an explanation mark, as in the expression “it rocks !”, “it is amazing !”, “it kicks ass !”, as we intend to play energetic rock music (not soft rock) most of the time, and we intend to be good and fun for our audience.
We are looking for a logo for our rock band, one to be used on the concert invitation, on the bass drumhead, and other materials.
Here are some ideas / consideration:
- There should be something that reminds a rock, or that reminds a rock and a beach. It doesn’t have to be the particular shape of Guincho’s beach and its rock (their shapes have no particular interest), but some kind of graphics that suggest either a rock or a rock and a beach.
- The overall logo should be simple, not loaded with too many drawings. Maybe just one, or two drawing (that rock or that combination rock-beach)
- The character font should be well chosen. It is not a metal rock band (so not so aggressive font as Iron Maiden, Metallica, or Kiss), but not a soft rock / boys band either.
