Book Cover Design Brief
I need a book cover for the third book in a Science Fiction series. I have uploaded the covers for the first two books in the series. The cover should be in a similar style as the books will sell as a set.
The following is a brief synopsis of the books:
They are based on a fantasy character named Quintus Aurelius who was a Roman Centurion infused with the Wrath of God during the crucifixion of Jesus. The Wrath of God is a conduit for power to flow into Quintus, driving him toward madness as he battles good and evil in his personality. Quintus can't die, has enormous power and lives through the centuries with the curse that everyone he knows dying around him.
All three books occur in modern times with flashbacks to the past.
Book One - Introduces all the main characters, is an origin story and has Quintus fighting against a malevolent Artificial Intelligence, named Alpha, that steals prototype military weapons and threatens the world. In this book, Quintus meets Mary Beth, falls in love and she becomes pregnant the day before the battle where AIpha is defeated but Quintus is damaged and goes into a coma.
Book Two - AIpha returns to take revenge, kidnapping Mary Beth as she goes into labor and attacking those that had helped Quintus. The birth of their son, named Teo, brings Quintus out of the coma but also awakens a Demon called the Red Dragon. Teo is intertwined with the Wrath of God and triggers the apocalypse described in Revelation (but based more closely to the version in the Zorastorian religion.) Quintus rescues Mary Beth and then with a team of characters seeks to rescue Teo. The Red Dragon's mission is the destruction of humanity and to bring his people (Druj - effectively demons) into this world. Alpha realizes he is better off with humans than demons and switches to help humanity. In a cataclysmic battle Quintus uses all of the power of the Wrath of God to defeat the Red Dragon but in doing so releases power that damages the fabric (barrier) of the universe that separates alternate universes.
Book 3 Children of Wrath - Is the book that I need a cover.
In this book, Quintus has lost his power and returns to being a normal human. He has a 2nd child named Christina and lives a happy family life for ten years. Then an army of Demons break through the crack in the barrier and ancient Gods return to earth to punish who broke the barrier. This leads to variety of battles. While Quintus is a critical character in book three. The story is dominated by what happens to his children Teo and Christina. Teo has two personalities with one a frightened ten year old child and second being possessed by an omnipotent being named Yahweh. Christina turns out to be the angel Auriel. She is strengthen by fire (especially dragon fire), uses a pointed staff as her weapon of choice and has a giant android wolf for a companion (Alpha was infused into the android by Teo as Christina's protector).
Cover for book Three: There are a lot of potential scenes from the book that would be appropriate. The cover should focus on Teo, Christina or both.
Potential covers: Teo is not in any battles in the book but does create Christina and restores Quintus' power. One dramatic scene involves Teo floating in the air a blaze with power, fire emanating from him burning Christina converting her into the fire angel Auriel.
Another option: Christina fighting demons or dragons with or without her wolf. In one scene she saves her mother who is strapped down on an alter. She stands above her mother's body and stabs a dragon demon.
Another option: Teo floating in the air with his eyes ablaze in front of a cowering, kneeling Quintus his sword stabbed through Christina's chest pinning her to the ground.
Any design should be heavy on fire in the back or foreground. In the prior covers, fire from the front cover bleeds into the back cover where a second image comes out of the fire. (Teo and/or Christina should be on the front and Quintus, Mary Beth, Teo, Christina or Victor (handsome main with blue crystal eyes) on the back.
The prior covers depict Quintus and Mary Beth. Any depiction of them on the third cover should be consistent with the prior covers.
Of the two prior covers, I prefer the style of the second cover.
