I would like a logo designed for my new tearoom.
If I find the right logo, I would like stationery and business cards designed also.
I have seen a gap in the market for a modern tearoom selling only loose leaf tea (no teabags). Many tearooms are geared towards women and I plan to open the market to men so the vibe would be relaxed and not too twee or feminine (no doilies!!).
The tearoom would more upscale than the average cafe and the furniture will be a mix of antique and modern, giving it a colourful, mis-matched feel and not too clean or corporate.
I do not want people to feel indimidated by their lack of knowledge of tea, as I envisage the tearoom to be a place where people come to enjoy and learn about tea.
In the beginning, I may have small chalkboards on each table where customers can draw or write and then we would photo them to make an art project. This is something we would intend to continue to do, involving customers in the art displays/pieces of the tearoom.
We also intend to sell cakes (dairy, gluten-free, vegan etc) fresh juices and smoothies and possibly salads, soups and sandwiches.
Target Market(s)
students & young professionals (male & female), ladies who lunch (40+) & young mothers.

Requirements
Must have
- It must be recognisable as a place that serves tea. The general idea is to bring the tearoom into the 21st century, so it would be a modern brand without being too feminine (as many tearooms are).
The logo must be friendly and inviting and the customer will think that it is an enjoyable place to pass some time.
Nice to have
- It would be nice to see use of colour. I intend to have furniture which is both antique (dark wood, patterns) and modern (bright, beanbags). Tearooms tend to be plain and white, so I would like to infuse some colour into the tearoom.
Teas are different colours and there's a wide variety. It would be nice to see the variety of tea reflected in the logo. It is our aim to provide a wide variety of loose leaf tea and to bring loose leaf tea to the general public. In this respect, a non-intimdating logo. Something that is accessible and encouraging to customers, as we want to be as a tearoom. We do not want people to be intimidated because they do not know about tea. We want them to come in and learn about tea.
I would like to see a bit of originality. Very often tearooms have a cup in their logo. I'm trying to do something a bit different and modernise the tearoom, so if that could be reflected in the logo, that would be great!
Should not have
- Should not have a font which makes it look child-like.
Comic sans is a pet-hate of so many people, so a font that is not too unbearable for the majority of people. There is a good chance that the people that will come in to the tearoom will know the differences between fonts.
I do not want a generic logo which consists of just a cup. There are a lot of these in the UK and it will not stand out if it looks like this.
