T-shirt Design Brief
ƒome Collective is a dance collective rooted in Hip Hop and House culture. Our work is body-based, community-oriented, and grounded in cultural history rather than commercial mainstream logics.
For 2026, we are looking for a designer to collaborate with us on the development of a T-shirt and longsleeve design that reflects the spirit and values of ƒome.
About the project
The design should carry the essence of ƒome.
ƒome means “family” in the Ewe language (Ghana/Togo), and this idea lies at the core of our collective. We understand family as a shared responsibility — shaped by culture, history, community, collectivity, roots, and lived experience.
We are not interested in loud statements or trend-based visuals. Instead, we are looking for a design that feels grounded, intentional, and clear — something that resonates on a deeper level and can be worn naturally by dancers in both studio and everyday contexts.
Aesthetic direction
We are drawn to designs that are:
artistic yet minimal
timeless rather than trend-driven
inspired by the histories and values of Hip Hop and House culture, not by streetwear hype
conceptually strong with a reduced visual language
symbolic or typographic rather than illustratively overloaded
wearable, functional, and meaningful for dancers
Values & mindset
Our collaboration is guided by shared values:
commitment to sustainable production (organic materials, fair working conditions)
respectful engagement with culture, history, and community
no cultural appropriation or exoticizing perspectives
collective process over individual ego
About ƒome Collective
ƒome Collective is more than a working group — it is a family. Our collective brings together dancers, teachers, facilitators, activists, and cultural workers with diverse backgrounds and lived experiences. Together, we create spaces for learning, exchange, and transformation through movement and dialogue.
We actively welcome LGBTQIA+ individuals, Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPoC), and people of all ages and backgrounds. We believe that diversity is not an add-on, but the foundation of meaningful collective work.
Our vision
We aim to build inclusive spaces where people can connect, share knowledge, and grow together. Guided by the concept of ƒome — family — we work towards breaking down barriers and fostering belonging, mutual respect, and solidarity.
Through our projects, we seek to empower individuals, support education, and contribute to social justice and equality. We see ƒome Collective as a platform for collaboration and care — a place where shared values turn into tangible action. Here is what we like: https://www.thedancecamp.ch/opencall
