Tattoo Design Brief
I have a couple of existing tattoos on my upper left thigh. It’s the attachment titled, IMG_1231.jpeg.
Right now I feel incomplete. I'd like to stick with just that one leg for tattooing. I’m not looking to do a big, complete sleeve on my leg, just a few patch work type designs.
I’ll attach some of the ideas/examples that I like the most as a reference. What I'm most looking for is inspiration. I want to be able to take what I have and go to a tattoo place to "complete the look". I'm kind of indecisive, so I'm looking for designers with a good idea and good imagination to put a WHOLE concept together. Meaning, looking at my leg, with what's currently there, I've toyed with the idea of adding a somewhat small, basic sword on the outer right ankle, maybe wings below the knee or below the calf muscle, maybe an old traditional ship on the hamstring area. Designs and styles that make the whole leg look more cohesive to the gym-rat, "traditional tattoo" style look.
As mentioned, I’m a big “gym rat” so I really like the idea of like wings, or something, under my calf or under my knee. Just kinda accentuates those parts. I tend to like the American Traditional styles of tattoos. I’m just lost on what I should do. I'm really looking for a creative consultation; someone that can show me, on my own leg picture(s) what a couple of added pieces would look like and make the whole thing together just look really cool. Again, not a full sleeve, we're talking like a total of 4 or 5 I would think.
Pictures attached of the styles I like, along with my wife’s drawings on me of the basic shapes/sizes on my leg. Here’s my current ideas:
1. American Traditional style eagle on the back hamstring area.
2. The year, “1990” above the knee positioned closer inward than center of my leg. Kind of an old English style font. Maybe about 3/4” in size.
3. Butterfly below the knee (centered). Keep the design simple.
4. Below the butterfly would be 3 simple lines of texts. Basic font. The dates of each of my 3 kid’s births (from oldest to youngest): 11.23.16, 3.25.20, 9.20.25
5. Below the Birthdays, and moving upward, toward inner-thigh, would be 3 small birds (doves or sparrows; no real preference).
6. Toward the outer ankle area, a simple sword. Maybe about 2 or 3 inches in size. Might sound kinda weird but I want to be sure it’s a sword and not confused as a Christian cross.
7. Directly below the calf, centered, simple wings.
