Logo Design Brief

I need a new logo for an electrical contractor in Southern California. The current logo is dated and basic so I'm open to fresh ideas. The logo will of course be used in many places but one in particular is a wall in our reception area which will feature a logo roughly 5'x5', so I need it to be tasteful but impactful. The current logo is included for reference.
