Logo Design Brief

The prodigal son of the New Testament was a young man who squandered his father's wealth on bad living, drinking and prostitutes, before he realized that life was not what he wanted or needed and he returned to his father who welcomed him with open arms of celebration.

The ministry is aimed at encouraging the 20-40, age group who have a faith in Christ but who may have fallen away or become distracted with life, to come back to a closer relationship with God and Christ. It is a ministry of hope in Christ based on the total grace and forgiveness of the gospel message of Christ. It is a message of Luke 15 and the prodigal. It is the message of Luke 7:36 and the forgiveness of the sinful woman.

It will be a ministry for those who think, “I don’t deserve his grace or mercy. I don’t deserve to stand and proclaim that I am saved and that I am Christ’s. I don’t deserve to be called son or daughter of God. I don’t deserve the blessings of grace, forgiveness and hope.” It will be a ministry of obligated forgiveness that is empowered to accept, proclaim, and bask in the grace & forgiveness of Christ because that IS his goal and desire, and purpose, so much so that he died for me to be able to bask in that grace and forgiveness even in my sinful state. It will be a message of my hope, forgiveness and grace being Christ’s victory; and should I not accept it I continue to crucify him and participate in the effort of his defeat.

I need a logo design for a new ministry aimed at the age group 20-40. The final design should have a coolness factor to it that resonates with a 20-40 age group who are not unfamiliar with societal marketing concepts and who live and play within a culture dominated by image, status, and achievement. Incorporating the cross into the logo is not essential, but I welcome the idea if it is done in a manner that meets the expectations above and does not create the since of an over evangelism. The purpose of this ministry is to reunite young believers with their faith.

The words "Prodigal Life" with a possible alternative of "Prodigal Life Ministries" or "ProdigalLife.com"

Ideally the logo could maintain its appearance with all word options above.

Target market is 20-40 year olds who have been raised in Christian backgrounds but who have distanced themselves from God and Christ for whatever reason and who are looking for a safe but "cool" place to begin their journey back to Christ.

I would love to see something which symbolizes forgiveness, and acceptance such as a hand on a head, or two men hugging but in a contemporary almost abstract appearance. outlines and shadows are good without details.
