Poster Design Brief
I run YATL, the Young Actors Theater Lab, a theater dedicated to bringing kids to the performing arts, both in the audience and as performers. Currently we're rehearsing Comedy of Errors, a Shakespeare comedy (adapted for young audiences) about two sets of twins and mistaken identity. I need a poster to market that show to the community. I'll be making paper copies and will ideally have something I can put on our website, as well.
I'm looking for something that appeals to families with kids (though not too childish; many of our group are teens), something that reflects the story (and/or Shakespeare), I'd like it to communicate FUN and FUNNY. Offbeat is great. Our patrons are generally well educated, fairly theater savvy moms and dads who are coming to see their sons and daughters on stage, or just love to bring their kids to the theater. But this is likely the first Shakespeare many of them will be attending, so I'd love the poster to also communicate "approachable;" some people still struggle with Shakespeare-phobia :-)
The other details necessary to include on the poster are as follows, and *I'm not married to the exact verbiage I've got here*:
