Vector Design Brief
We are designing a physical card game whose closest cousin is "Magic: The Gathering" (http://www.wizards.com/Magic). We are in need of a CREATIVE design for the cards that is similar, but different and unique, compared to other card games. Card designs should fit within the fantasy realm, but ultimately be portable to other genres, such as science fiction or medieval.
The fundamentals of our cards include:
• Title (up to ~3 long-ish words)
• Card type icon (attack, defend, augmented attack, augmented defend)
• Image (majority of the card)
• Instructional text area 1 (up to ~25 words)
• Instructional text area 2 (up to ~30 words)
• Copyright area
• Game logo area
The back of the card identifies each type of card with a different background with the game logo and title in front of it (probably white). Current ideas for backgrounds identifying the different types of cards are fiery red, metallic silver, marble green, and brown leather, so feel free to suggest textures for those as well.
Areas where we are looking for creativity:
• Textures and backgrounds (e.g. we like the parchment/antique paper look)
• Interesting use of transparency and/or gradient colors
• Shape and positioning of elements (but still needs to be functional)
• Overlapping of elements
• Card borders (if they make sense in your design)
• Icon style
• Fonts (we use "Lindsay EF" in our manual)
• Card size (but still needs to be usable in the player's hand; standard size is ~2.5" x 3.5")
• Card shape (but still needs to be usable in the player's hand; e.g. Rectangular but with a rounded corner)
Restrictions on the design:
• Design should be in color
• Card shape can be creative (but not too "out there"), but should be a reasonable cost to print
• First priority is to print, but cards will also be used in an iPad app
Tools:
• We would prefer the design was submitted in Adobe Illustrator format (vector-based)
We will give extra attention to designs that are truly unique and that we haven't seen before!

Thank you!
