We are an Austin based tech startup, and our product is a data product for businesses, not consumers, founded in a niche area of statistical mathematics. We would like to be seen as a cool Austin tech startup first and foremost, and young savvy nerd entrepreneurs second. The goal here would be to have a logo that is visually cool enough that it could be on a t-shirt handed out at SXSW, and it would be something people might actually wear vs being seen as corporate swag garbage.
Our colors (using the color wheel in MS PPT): Primary color is RGB 0, 139, 139 Secondary color is RGB 219, 238, 244. Tertiary color is just white. A fourth color would be grey RGB 217, 217, 217. The fourth color does not need to be utilized.
I would like the logo to feel Modern, Simple, Young primarily. I am thinking an emblem most likely, or an abstract shape or symbol with the company name somehow. I would also be open to just jazzing up the company name with no symbol, but that is my least favorite option.
Even though our product is for businesses, and not consumers, the primary goal here is cool factor, and if possible to have the Austin startup feel. One example of style (even though I am not super excited about a name only logo) is the retailmenot logo. I also like the uship logo in that it is a simple combination of their name, and an image that gives a nod to what they do. Something like that would be my preference overall, but the challenge may be giving a nod to the niche math thing, without it being too "on the nose".
Image #1 attached gives a little bit of context around the look we are trying to capture. Image #2 is an example of a bimodal distribution, which is partially where the company name originated. I uploaded #2 for context, but I am not sure if it makes sense to use a bimodal curve in the logo because it may be too "on the nose". I would like to see some designs with vaguely statistical curves in the design, but I just go back and forth on how it could be done, in a cool fashion.
Last thing to mention is that I would like to get the image in a vector format so I can resize it as needed. I also just want to make it really clear, even on top of the terms via designcrowd, that this is a single transaction for a logo only, and the designer selected will have no further claim of any type against BiModal or me as an individual, simply the design contest budget for a logo, nothing else.
