T-shirt Design Brief

Founded in 1992, Legacy is a well-established brand of headwear, jewelry and other personal accessories for the collegiate and resort/destination markets (visit our web site at www.legacycaps.com). All of our products feature official college or resort names and logos.

Legacy is seeking "name drop" art concepts for its rapidly growing jewelry and personal accessory products (i.e. handbags, totes, wallets, key chains, belt buckles, headbands, magnets, and buttons). By "name drop" art, we're referring to designs that are easily replicated across multiple schools or resorts. In other words, the name of the college and logos may change from "Penn State" to "Notre Dame" as well as the colors, but the basic design elements will remain the same. For 2011, we are developing 3 distinct collections each of which will be a separate crowd design project the themes for these three collections are Groovy, Vintage and Whimsy.

Choose your favorite Division I university for your submission

This Design Crowd Contest for a design with a “Groovy” theme:
The Groovy collection should have a hippie, retro feel to it. Think 60’s and 70’s flowers, peace signs (finger peace sign too), rock n’ roll, heart symbols, school color tie dye, smiley faces etc. Generally speaking, we will still use school colors in the art.

Keep in mind that the winning design must be able to be replicated easily for a hundred other schools. Since we have the Adobe Illustrator files for all schools, we can “name drop” school logos (lettermarks like interlocking ND for Notre Dame; or mascots like Univ. of Texas Longhorn silhouette); established dates (ex. “Est. 1787”), verbiage or slogans (ex. “Roll Tide” for Alabama), but don’t want to start from scratch for each school.

Thank you for your submissions, we look forward to seeing all your creative ideas!
