Logo Design Brief

oorav is a new social travel website focusing on activity based travel planning.

Traditional travel websites have a destination focus where users pick a destination, pick a flight and a hotel and then research things to do themselves. oorav approaches travel planning from the reverse direction, users select things they would like to do (such a rafting, vesting a specific museum) and then we automatically build an itinerary based on these requirements.

Other important aspects of the site include:
• Heavy map focus. The core of the site is a route planning application. Users will be able to say "I want to go from Boston to LA" and the site will show them the options for driving (including gas price), options for flying and public transport options.
• An open source travel guide will provide an alternative to traditional print based travel guides and will be maintained by the community.
• Group travel planning. Invite a bunch of friends to go traveling who all share their interests, budget etc and an itinerary is built which accommodates them all.
• Heavy focus on sharing and communication. The site will host travel blogs and will integrate heavily with other social networks for cross promotion and sourcing interest & photo data.

The site design has not been started and will not be started for several months but I would like to get a logo in place to kick off the beginnings of the creating process. The important aspects of this design are:

• Eventually the logo will be modified and new versions will be used regularly. I don’t have a concept for this yet but it could be something like an animation of a figure bungee jumping from the top of the logo or other activity focused around the logo. While designs should not incorporate this they should be flexible enough to incorporate this kind of design later on.
• This logo will be almost entirely used on the web. While some print versions of it will be used printability can be ignored if it means compromising the web logo
• The logo should be playful and inspire thoughts of travel or exploration. I have no interest in seeing vehicles or anything related on the logo.
• The site will be designed around the logo, please keep this in mind and use a palate which will accommodate a web design too
• Think everything that is wrong with web 2.0 design, quadruple it and that is what we are looking for. We are looking for super modern with no traces of traditionalism.
