Logo Design Brief

Several years ago I found I loved shooting more modern style portraits ("Senior style") and truly fell in love with off camera lighting.

I love being able to create light and shadows and control the mood of the composition just by adding or subtracting light, amazing that you can change the mood of the shot just by something so simple.

I've also found that with pro quality gear... crystal clear eyes, the windows to the soul... are one of my favourite things. The clarity, sharpness, and colour of the eyes... love it (but please don't take this as something to incorporate into the design, just trying to explain how I love sharpness, fine colours, interesting lines, etc..). :)

I've found the majority of my clients now are females who are a bit more trendy, love modern styles and colours and want that something different that others in the area do not have.

I'm hoping with this to market towards that crowd, something edgy and modern yet at the same time a bit elegant and sophisticated.

Yes... I am working towards eventually doing weddings in our community as well and thus the reason looking for something that not only catches the "seniors" (young trendy people) yet also something that is a bit more elegant/business like for those looking for something higher end when they choose to get married.

My business name is "DB Photo" which is short for "Dennis Boyd Photography".

Unfortunately though...I've just realized that by using the "db" in the design, two letters side by side... it can look like a "phallic symbol"... haha... sorry... definitely not what I'm after.

I've also attached a few absolute basic watermarks/logo's that I've been using on my photos over the past couple of years... As you can see I don't really know what I'm doing (no graphical design ability) yet hope they can help you along with the examples above with some direction that I've been working towards.

I do have FontExpert and can do up my own wordy logo's... I'm hoping to get something a bit different than a regular guy like me can do up just by changing up the fonts/colours. Maybe Lettermark Logo mixed in with a Wordmark logo? Something unique... not just something I could do with FontExpert please :)

Requirements

Must have

• Logo also to be used as a watermark for photos, must have transparent background so I can overlay it on bottom left or right of final client prints.
  
  Wordmark logo with Lettermark/brushmark style mixed in maybe?
  
  
  

Nice to have

• Simplicity
  
  Can be seen on either truly dark or truly light background areas (black fonts can't be seen on shadow areas whereas white fonts can't be seen in the clouds, white shirts, etc...) so something that might work with either situation would be nice.
  
  I am not really familiar with eps (?) file formats, work generally with .psd/tiff/jpeg so would love it if one of the final outputs could be in .psd to make it easier to layer onto photos (use Lightroom 4/Photoshop CS6 and have never tried other file formats and layering yet).

• Should not have photos in the logo, graphics relating to camera gear/lenses, etc...
  
  Should not be just a basic Wordmark logo... I can fire up FontExpert and do that, I can't figure out how to incorporate a Lettermark or brushmarks or similar into it though.
