Web Design Brief
http://www.intermine.com is due for a major overhaul and refresh in addition to adding new products. FileCensus the is currently the companies main product. It is a storage management package that has a central warehouse of file system metadata. Currenrly companies use this to do things like rapidly search for files or determine the list of largest .avi files in the organization.
We would like to host the new website using the http://flatiron-demo.squarespace.com template. Blocks would be needed for the products, screenshots, evaluations, resellers. Use some of the screenshots from the current site to add some color and movement to the template. Please create a test account in squarespace and take screenshots of the result. No HTML/JavaScript coding is required. This is a desigin, fonts, colors, icons and layout project.
Checkout http://wayback.archive.org/web/*/http://intermine.com for an idea of how the logo and site has changed over the years. Feel free to go stylize the original chevron based logo again as it has been changed a few times over the years. I would be keen to keep the current colors but if you are game to put forward a new set, feel free.
We are also introducing 2 new products to complement the FileCensus product being FileArchive and FileBilling. We are going to need logos that work as icons on the various OS we support through to larger versions that would contain the product name and tagline. The archive product moves files between tiers of storage using DFS/LNK technology to ensure accessibility. The billing product uses the security model to determine who has access to storage and therefore who should pay for the files.

Hello,
I have awarded 1st place to the first designer to follow the instructions and create a squarespace account and present a design. You can see the early designs at intermine.squarespace.com.
I am planning to award the 2nd prize to the design that will be used on the next release of the website. This may or may not be the designer of the 1st place award.
3rd prize is not going to be awarded by us but will be taken as the potential future design for the company.

We have setup a demo copy of the server to grab some screenshots from:
site: demo.intermine.biz
You need to select the download and run the console to launch the Java based console via JNLP. You need Java 6 or 7 installed with the browser plugins to do this.
Once the console is running enter:
Username: demo
Password: demo
Server: demo.intermine.biz
From here you can run the reports and see the admin areas but not actually change anything...

Yes, it has changed again. For the last time.
The template has changed, turns out the one I initially selected was not the best one to go with. Checkout http://intermine.com with the Frontrow template, this is why I love the squarespace platform. It frees me from being tied to a design.
What I am still looking for is the icons to represent the products. I like what has been presented so far and its going to be a hard choice to pick between them. I really like what the http://designers.designcrowd.com/designer/27791/mnm design guys have done with the icons. I am also impressed with the http://designers.designcrowd.com/designer/62303/fuxxo-works designs for the website with the previous Flatron template. If I was going to close the competition they would be my picks for 3rd and 2nd places.
I know I have stuffed people around and not been as responsive as I should have been. Sorry about that and I have kicked 2nd place to $3000 to match what was awarded for the first-past-the-post design. Even at these numbers its still much more cost effective than the last 2 website redesigns.

You can also download the console from https://www.dropbox.com/s/4rp5ftkz5fhw54d/SNConsole.zip and run the snconsole.jar file in the jars\client directory to connect to the demo server. The username is demo - The password is demo - The server is demo.intermine.biz - be aware - you have to allow "unsigned java" on the osx platform to get the console to run. Windows users dont need to jump through that hoop if you are looking for additional materials for the design.
We are attending the http://www.cebit.com.au/conferences/big-data conference in Sydney at the end of next week so this will be the final. final. extension as I want the new website graphics and icons running for the show...

PS. I would like the logo for the billing product to use some of the currency symbols, yen, euro, dollar. The archive product should contain the text lnk and zip somewhere.
