Logo Design Brief

Hit me with your most creative explosive beautiful bold elegant professional adventure outdoor-loving concept and we'll hit you back with $1,000- that's American buckaroos. Yes, I'm aware that some of those adjectives may contradict each other but that's how open we are to any concept you provide. We'll see what we like and eliminate the ones we can't see using even if changes were made.
Please consider submitting a logo for our small kayak rental and tour company located in Page-Lake Powell, Arizona named "Kayak Lake Powell." We have the number 1 rated website for kayak rentals & tours on Lake Powell and get extensive international exposure through our European & Asian clients. Our logo project is guaranteed, so we will use one of the designs created for us. Also, if we really like the logo, we'd like to work with the winner on a freelance web page design job.

Now the blah, blah, blah...
Lake Powell is a unique desert lake, one of the most beautiful lakes in the U.S. There are no trees and nothing remotely green in this area.

We need a new logo for 2 main reasons:
1. We are changing our name to "Kayak Lake Powell" instead of just "Kayak Powell" and the longer name doesn't fit into the logo we currently use; and
2. We are adding bicycle rentals next season. Our bicycle rental business will be: "Bike Lake Powell."

We need ONE logo that can be interchanged with each shop. Something adventure/outdoor related but not specific to biking or kayaking. We currently use red as our signature color but want to change from the bright primary red to something more rusty, earthy red or even a softer blue to represent the lake water. We want to avoid bright primary colors. We are looking for a logo that conveys:

Please check out our website and our logo at www.kayakpowell.com. Our website drives all of our business so we'd like a logo that integrates well with the banner. However, like I said, if we really like the winner's work we hope to commission him/her on a freelance web page design job.

Middle-upper income professional, international (European/Asian) active adults who are looking for a quiet (non-motorized) way to enjoy Lake Powell AND
Middle-lower income vacationers who rent bicycles and kayaks from us as an affordable alternative to the more expensive motorized options.
We want to appeal to upper income but don't want to be exclusive or snooty.

Requirements

Must have

• 1. Our company name "Kayak Lake Powell", "Bike Lake Powell" OR both "Kayak &/and/-/ Bike Lake Powell". (there doesn't need to be an "and" if you are going to put both on the same logo.

Nice to have

• 1. One logo for both side of our business. One logo that goes with "Kayak Lake Powell" and then the same logo or logo design that can be used when we change out the name to "Bike Lake Powell."
  2. It would be great if we got options to choose from. Let us see a logo design that integrates "Kayak - Bike Lake Powell."
  3.One-two color schemes: one main color (we currently use red) and one secondary color (we currently use grey, but black, white, tan or some other neutral would work too). Or more colors in logo but ability to have it color scaled to just 1-2 colors.
  4. A tagline. We don't have one, except we say, "Kayak Lake Powell- kayak tours and rentalsl." It's really boring.
  5. A logo that will integrate well on a web page as our website drives nearly all of our business, but would also be bold enough to catch a person's eye on our rack cards, advertising, shop sign or on the side of our boats/van.

Should not have

• No people characters, no cartoons, nothing childish or multi-colored in primary colors.
  No kayaks silouhetted. No paddles. No bicycles. Nothing too literal with a kayaker or biker.
  No stick figures on a kayak (for example, Ocean Kayak.com is one our LEAST favorite logos)
  Although, Kayak Powell previously had a pictograph "paddle-man" on its logo. We would not be opposed to a southwest-themed stick figure if done tastefully.
  No green in the color scheme.
  NO "font only" logos, no 'work mark" logos. I don't know what you call it- abstract, illustration, or what but we need an actual "graphic" to go with our name.
