Logo Design Brief
My small business is looking for a creative, eye-catching design. We specialize in lighting design for theatre, corporate events, galas, dance, and other live entertainment. Please visit our website at www.ericmitchelldesign.com for reference.
Feel free to incorporate an element of theatrical lighting design in the graphic you create, but that is not a requirement of the logo.
The logo should incorporate one of the following, whichever inspires you most:
"Eric Mitchell Design"
"EM Design"
"EAM Design"
I am not tied to any color at this time, so feel free to explore with whatever you see best fits.
I would like the logo to communicate simplicity but sophistication, and certainly not boring. It is OK to be a little bit playful, but still professional and welcoming.
A few notes about my taste:
-I find negative space and implied lines fascinating and eye-catching (as long as the design is not so abstract that it cannot be read correctly).
- My pet peeve in a logo is being too busy or anything that looks like it could have been clipart.
-I like the idea of incorporating an element of the name into the design and creating some sort of image using the words (instead of simply the name under a clipart-style graphic unless the graphic is truly unique and ties perfectly into the company). Please explore other options too though!
I am attaching some photos of logos that I like. I am not asking for a reproduction of these logos, but I am providing them rather to give you an idea of what I like.

Thank you for the work you have been doing. I certainly appreciate your time and effort!
I'm extending the deadline because I'm noticing that many of you should re-read the brief again. Please note that I am particularly interested in designs that incorporate the name of the company (preferably "EM Design" or "Eric Mitchell Design") into the actual design of the logo. This will help make the logo memorable and thought-provoking. Please refer to the reference logos I attached to the brief. I am not very inclined to pick a logo that has a graphic with some text below it that spells out the company name, although some look very professional.
Also, I'm seeing a lot of submissions with light bulbs. While that is not a bad thing and it is only natural to associate lighting design with a light bulb, it's not quite as relevant to my services as you would think. I would advise that you explore some other ideas as well.
