The Canadian Association of Professional Academic Librarians (CAPAL) is a new professional association of librarians in higher education, and we need a logo for our printed and online materials.
This is specifically an association of library professionals, not of libraries. Academic librarians have a professional degree in librarianship or information studies, and often a masters or PhD in a subject specialty.
Themes: Librarians, Higher education, Canada
Tech specs:
We need a pure vector file in eps format
We want a colour version and a black and white one suitable for printing
Colours - Our site is mostly blue and grey. http://capalibrarians.org/
The logo does NOT have to be blue and grey (might well have some contrasting elements) but should go well with those colours.
About us:
Name - Canadian Association of Professional Academic Librarians (CAPAL)
In French - L’Association canadienne des bibliothécaires académiques professionnels (ACBAP)
Web site - http://capalibrarians.org
Mission statement - http://capalibrarians.org/mission/
Updates
I have been getting feedback from our board on the designs you all have submitted. They are excited by the designs! I will share responses to individual designs directly to the designers, but they offered some general comments as well:
They like designs that convey something about our group through the design itself. Examples we like: http://www.cabr.ca/ ; https://www.caot.ca/ ; http://www.cag-acg.org/
They do like designs that somehow convey people, however symbolically -- we are not just about stuff! Examples: stylized figures, laurel leaves, owl
In some uses we will include our acronyms with the logo, but the image should be able to stand without them. If you do submit a design with the wording, there should be a place for both French and English (that is, there should NOT be English and French "versions" of the logo. (CAPAL is the English acronym, ACBAP is the French one. See the above links for examples.
Many thanks for your submissions, we are enjoying this and it is important to us!
