Logo Design Brief

We need a logo for a mobile development company called Bit Lab.

We specialise in all sorts of mobile projects including Enterprise sized projects, games, information hubs, sports utilities, etc.

Our focus is on providing easy to use, engaging, good looking apps that have a professional, clean look but also with a fun aspect. This logo will serve primarily as a splash screen logo, web site logo, etc.

We have a sister company called Word Lab that provides writing, technical writing, press releases etc, so the Lab part was established to portray the fact that we research our clients' needs, provide software and writing in a scientific/analyical way, and most importantly that we do a lot of analysis and turn data into information.

We want something modern, clean and preferably something that feels techy, but almost nerdy. Yet it should still be clean and preferably have some curviness to it instead of a blocky old 2000-era logo.

For these reasons we want to use a test tube as the common anchor.

NEW NOTE: The test tube is now required. What we envisage is a double-helix around the test tube (see the business card), but obviously in a logo format.

We are open to creativity from the design side but the common element here is the scientific side of mobile software engineering (and later on if the design is perfect there is a 95% chance we will employ them to do the same thing for Word Lab).

We DO love the font Hemi Head, its got the right kind of modern feeling without feeling too techy/stiff, but again use this as a strong reference more than a requirement.

NEW NOTE: The blue colour we use in our logo and business card is definitely a requirement. Feel free to explore using other grays/whites/colours with that blue, but the blue must be used.

Generally, end users. People that use and love mobile apps. So I guess this means a young crowd (18-40)
