A logo is required for The Heritage Cider Company. We are the only West Australian grower of true variety cider apples, and are poised for our first vintage. This will be a unique product, standing apart from the ciders already made in Australia, which use non-cider apples or even apple concentrate. (In the same way as specific varieties of grapes are needed for good wine, specific varieties of apples are needed for good cider. Cider in Australia is currently made from "dessert" or "table" apples.)
A world recognised winemaker will be crafting the Cider in a local winery. Our region is unique in providing ancient soils that impart unusual and unique character to fruits - world class white wines are produced in the same area.
The logo must somehow convey that this is a different cider product, and that it is made from the correct ingredients.
The logo and colour scheme must be portable across bottle labels, letterheads, merchandise... But primarily convey a recognisable and distinctive brand.
Our orchards have the potential to produce enough cider to take up to 15% of the Australian market, with potential sales of up to 150000 litres.
There will be three mainstream blends - Dry / Medium / Sweet. Traditionally the same design logo is used for each, with different colours used to define which blend is in the bottle. The logo should therefore be suitable for colour change. (See Strongbow Australia etc)
We beleive in simplicity and tradition. Our name - The Heritage Cider Company should be a clue... as is the name of our parent farm-holding - Long Orchard Farm (It is a long farm with orchards on it...)
A very simple message - Tradition and a true Cider... That's all.
Updates
Everyone - many thanks for the designs so far.
Please bear in mind that we are primarily looking for a logo to brand our company - not a label. YES the logo should be portable to the label, but it needs to be a visually arresting logo.
The logo needs to work on merchandise, stationary, vehicles etc.
Also please note that in Australia cider is not drunk from wine glasses - it is drunk from straight glasses or sleevers, or on the neck, from the bottle. Designs with wine bottles and wine glasses just won't work.

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: We have received a large number of high quality designs and re-works. More than we expected, and many thanks to all designers who have submitted. It is taking time to adminster this workload and we must give the required attention and review of the designs. For this reason we will delay our deadline by four days. This allows us to review all designs over this coming weekend and advise on Monday 24 December.
