Logo Design Brief
Hi, this is a one-day event, planned to educate and empower women to effect positive change, but if successful will become an annual event. The focus will be on Women and Health, Women and the Economy, and Global Women's Issues. Three panel discussions, followed by caucus discussion and voting, and three afternoon workshops focused on taking action within the domains of new and traditional media, the political landscape, and through non-profits. The Keynote Speaker for the Event is Sheryl WuDunn, Pulitzer prize-winning journalist and co-author of Half The Sky.
We have just started a building a website, http://www.colby-sawyer.edu/nhwomenscaucus/, which will give you the color scheme we've been working with, as well as background information. We are not married to these colors, but something that doesn't clash (perhaps more vivid shades of the same color families). We will eventually need a t-shirt design and a poster design as well, so there's additional work down the road for the winner.

Target Market(s)
Women of all ages and all backgrounds who wish to effect change in the world (the event is non-partisan) are our market. Civility is a theme, so we will market as a big-tent type of event. We are particularly interested in young women, and the surrounding area includes MA, NH and VT. Men are welcome to attend.

Must have
- Colby-Sawyer College is hosting and sponsoring the event; they are a small, co-ed (originally all women) liberal arts college in New London, NH. Their name must be incorporated into the logo, and you can see an example of this by visiting the following: www.colby-sawyer.edu/assets/pdf/spring11catalog.pdf/ - the last page has a logo of the affiliate program (Adventures in Learning) with the name of the college incorporated.
Nice to have
- A Non-proprietary iconic image of a strong woman would be great. As an alternative, symbolism relating to the three topics in the morning sessions, or something representing "tools for change", the theme of the afternoon portion of the project might work. An abstract symbol of some sort, combined with the lettering would be fine. Something emblematic of New Hampshire mountains, snow, etc. would be a less desirable but acceptable choice. The book, Half the Sky, is a central theme of the event, so an abstract depiction of the sky, change, women empowering women . . .
Should not have
- Anything tacky or low-end like clip art.
