Web Design Brief

Having reviewed the designs received so far, no one design is meeting the client’s needs. The client has identified desirable elements from the designs submitted, which we want to see brought together.

Header
It is important that the logo is given space – ie is not overlayed on an image, nor with a short fade into an image. A gradual fade into the header image is acceptable.
Background
While an image background is acceptable, this should only be visible on the left and right borders, it should not be used underneath the main content area.
Main menu
The main menu should be a cohesive bar across the page – not separate buttons. Buttons that are connected together within a bar are acceptable. Menu items should be separated using a pipe ( | ), or by being framed (as long as the framing sits within a bar). Menu item should change colour to indicate the page you are on.
Left Hand Boxes
There should be consistency in colouring through these. It is acceptable to use one colour for the heading , and another for the content area. It is not acceptable for each box to have a different scheme. This applies to the right hand feature boxes as well.
Colouring
We want to keep this simple. Please use colours from the logo, feel free to add complimentary colours but keep the palette limited. If shading is used with any of the colours be careful to not move it too far from the original colour. The yellow does not look good with too much of a grey shade.
Feature Boxes
The two feature boxes on the home page (Browse Homes and Local Knowledge) need to stand out. An option is to ensure that the associated link button uses one of the brighter colours in the palette.

Note: I have attached the newly design logo to the brief. It is important that colours from the logo are used on the design. Blue denotes water and the yellow denotes sand and sun.

I'd like to see the feel of the logo reflected in the site.

Kiwi Bach and Holiday Homes is rebuilding its website – www.kiwibachandholidayhomes.co.nz.

We require the design of two pages:
• Home
• House detail page (pgs 3-5 of the attachment).

We have specified a layout for the site (attached).

The contextual information below provides the feeling the site needs to convey.

If further information is required please contact us.

CONTEXT/BACKGROUND
Kiwi Bach and Holiday Homes (KBHH) has been in business now for over 11 years and is due for a facelift. We have about 40 – 60 houses available during the peak summer period – about 50% are permanent holiday homes, the balance are local family homes being rented out while they are away on holiday.

We are currently located in Ohope Beach – but with the national name have the ability and goal to expand into other areas of New Zealand – so any logo etc has to have the ability to represent other holiday destinations within NZ. Bear in mind that our primary location is Ohope at the moment.

Our key market is families going on holiday – looking for a holiday home to book (currently an Ohope Beach holiday)

Secondary market is couples or mature groups looking at having some R&R or business groups having some team building/ management meetings away from the busy office surroundings.

We manage ALL the properties so are a great source of information on what holiday home is best suited to each family and “things to do” in the area – i.e. other activities.

Our main focus is to be the best “holiday home” - accommodation provider in whatever location KBHH is representing. We want to be seen as having a good supply of great homes, providing a great service as well as being a good source of local knowledge.

We want to be seen as PROFESSIONALS in the holiday rental business (from occupants and owners).

TRUST – we want people to be able to trust us by listing their property with us (owners) and confidently booking accommodation through us (occupants).

TAGLINE SUGGESTIONS
Key motif – “KBHH, your key to a great stay!” The “key”, of course is a double play on the house key you get. But it is also extendible to other aspect of the experience we offer. For example the phrase: “getting the key to the city” is applicable to us – we give them the key to Ohope…(or whatever location we are marketing in the future). Potentially we may consider promotional merchandise around this, eg promo key rings etc.

Some key words/phrases that our business represents are:
• ‘Our place is your place’
• Connect – connecting families to holiday homes and the area – at the moment only Ohope.
• Local – local people looking after your needs – “our place is your place – so make yourself at home!”
• Link – we are the link to a real kiwi holiday experience.
• Holiday - R&R – rest and recreation

More specific to Ohope:
• Safe Natural playground – beach, bush, fishing, outdoor activities – creating real family memories.

Website:
• Need to focus on the Local and Personal property management factors in website to differentiate us from other nationwide listing sites – contact us and we can help you find the right accommodation and save you time
• Play on the HOLIDAYMAKER experience more, including giving prominence to visitor deals, become a local etc, differentiating us from other local holiday home rental businesses.
• Real – real people, real places, real experiences.
• User friendly, informative, professional with a personal touch/feel, to encourage the holiday feeling.

We have decided to put this project 'on hold' until the completion of the logo design process.  Once the logo is selected we will upload that to guide the website design process.

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: We had put this project on hold pending the design of a new logo.

The logo has now been selected and uploaded to the brief.

I have pushed out the timeline to allow adequate time for designs based on the new logo to be submitted.
