Icon Design Brief
A website I run is introducing a game layer to encourage our users to do certain things on the site. We need 16 separate icons/badges that will be awarded upon each achievement.
** For reference, the perfect look, feel, size, and colors we are after can be seen at diy.org/skills
Critical elements:
1) The icons must look like they are from the same visual "family"
2) The icons must have solid colors, no gradients
3) The icons should all be the same size
We aren't interested in a designer grabbing clip art from the web. We are looking for unique, creative, beautiful, hand-created, illustrations and we are willing to pay for them.
The badges:
1) The top five rungs of a ladder
2) A rocket blasting through space
3) A ship anchor
4) Hands making a "peace" sign
5) Hands making a "rock and roll" sign
6) Speech / voice bubble
7) Half of a set of weights, indicating heavy weight
8) A gold cup / trophy
9) A magician's hat with a wand tapping it or next to it
10) A photograph with a generic human in it (gender-neutral), shoulders to top of head
11) A magazine cover with a generic human on it (gender-neutral), shoulders to top of head
12) A ninja star
13) A skull, side-facing
14) A handshake, generic hands (gender-neutral, color-neutral)
15) Three generic humans (gender-neutral), shoulders to top of head, two behind and left / right side, one in front

Good suggestion from one of the designers: Please only submit 4-5 icons so I can review your style and consistency. There's no need to submit any more than a few to start with. Thanks

First place has increased by $120 to $650 total. I've also set second place at $150 and third place at $100. Note that incomplete icon sets for second and third places are of no use to me, so I'm awarding simply to give thanks for the time and effort spent on those. There are three contenders for first place. All three are excellent. I will note that one designer is submitting icons for more than just the initial five. While the initial five are enough for me to make a decision, having the extra icons to look at definitely has helped sway my thought process. Thanks
