Logo Design Brief

We need a logo for a new software development company based in New Orleans Louisiana called "SouthPaw Technology". We develop applications primarily for the railroad industry. We would like to have the colors of Purple and Orange, or Purple and Gold. We have played with ideas of a Phoenix as part of our design, but aren't 100% set that it has to be in the final design.
