Logo Design Brief
Billion Commodities is in the business of trading and distributing natural rubber commodity, a main ingredient for the manufacturing of rubber products like tire and condom.
We require a logo to better represent the company's spirit, which is an embodiment of fairness, integrity, professional dedication, and services to tire & rubber industry. As China is now the world' biggest rubber consuming nation, the majority of our sales are in China.
Please find attached a previously proposed version of the logo which was subsequently rejected.
Natural rubber is an agricultural commodity grown and tapped from rubber trees. Our sellers/suppliers are the individual farmers, rubber plantation and processing plants. Our buyers/customers are companies in the rubber & tire industry, such as Goodyear, Michelin and Bridgestone, that require natural rubber as key raw material.
Like oil, gold, other agricultural commodities and stock markets, natural rubber's price can and does fluctuate wildly. The conventional buyers and sellers' interests may not always meet to permit a transaction. This is where Billion Commodities plays a role through its trading operation.
The company acts in the capacity as a hedge-fund or professional commodity trading firms like Cargill, Glencore, ADM, General Mills, Louis Dreyfus and Phibro. Except that our focus is on natural rubber.
The company employs professional traders and quatitative portfolio management techniques to handle the market volatility and risks inherent in the commodity trading.
The company also works closely with both buyers and sellers to advise on natural rubber R&D and sourcing advisory works.
Updates
We have further attached a picture-file containing various forms of the Chinese chracter "Yi", which supposedly means profit/wealth/gain.
The word is constructed by flowing/moving water upheld by bowl-like holder.
It's not must-have. But it's a bonus to integrate some variation of the auspicious character into the logo, if achievable.

- -A sense of gracefulness; like flowing water. We like waterly feel in the image.
-2-tone color design with white & blue tones preferred as they symbolize water too. But artists can vary as long as the it's white plus 2 other colors.
-Elegance
-Our shareholders are very profit-driven and like to see the P word.
-Keeping a low-profile is also emphasized.
-The logo should carry an understated tone/image of wealth, affluence, profit, professionalism and elegance.
-Project a sense of good heritage.
-The logo should not be "static" but possessing features that will suggest elegant perpetual motion. It means profit in motion...
Nice to have
- -We expect China will continue to be big part of our business as more tire and automobile manufacturing are expanding in China. An elegant oriental taste can be incorporated. But it's NOT essential.
-We always fancy that MsWord "Script MT Bold" font yields a "rubbery" feel. But we wonder how it can work with the aspiration we have set forth for the logo. Designers are welcomed, but not required, to explore incorporating the font.
-The Chinese character "Yi" which means profit and symbolized by water held upon a holder. We have got some variants of this character in the attachment. If the design can be incorporated it will be great. We are hoping it will further help with our business campaign in China, which contributes fifty percent to our revenue.
Should not have
- Squarish nerdiness.
Extremism: either too conservative or too cartoon-like.
