Civil engineering consultancy logo

This is what Costplan was looking for in their logo design

We specialise in providing cost estimating, constructibility and planning services for major civil engineering infrastructure projects and require a new company logo as our current one is somewhat basic.
Would prefer to stick to the same colours that our logo currently has. Burnt orange and Black, however open to alternative colours and maybe a second colour.
We are a professional organisation that deals mainly with government departments and other consultancy groups so are looking for a contemporary logo thats not too busy nor conservative. For what its worth, attached is our current logo . happy to take questions onboard.
Update 1- i) We have been looking at colours, PMS158 orange is good .ii) Logo doesnt have to look anything like current one. iii) overall shape needs to be rectangular "landscape" and not square or "portrait". iv) Blue may be a good 2nd or font colour?
