DesignCrowd, a crowdsourcing marketplace for freelance designers, has raised $3 million in new funding from investors led by Starfish Ventures. DesignCrowd has doubled its business in the past year and now boasts 108,000 designers under its roof. Why is design crowd-sourcing so lucrative, even if not everyone gets to win the client’s prizes?
Crowdsourcing has its benefits, especially if the effort can be a collaborative one. With DesignCrowd, though, crowdsourcing becomes competitive, but the end result is that end-users usually find the best potential output from among very capable designers.
